Club Biography

A small island club with relatively little history now has eyes for larger success thanks to its eccentric yet passionate chairman Amadeo Salvo. A man with huge pedigree, Salvo – previously the president of Valencia CF was in search of a new exciting project in 2015 and certainly found that with a club based in the party capital of the world; F.C. Ibiza.

Following their previous name change [“UD Ibiza”] as recently as 2015, the club has had marginal success, gaining promotion in 2017/18 from the Tercera Division (third division) into the Segunda División B. This wasn’t without controversy however, with UD Ibiza unconventionally paying fellow club Lorca FC’s debts and gaining their promotion spot to the league above.

In their introductory season UD Ibiza surprised many finishing in 6th place in 2018/19 and surprising pundits and managers alike with their striking style of play and unwillingness to be defeated. Salvo, impressed by his club’s innate desire and drive on the field set forth in gaining larger scale appeal, developing the club badge to be more in line with the island’s socialability and more accepting nature.

Following many takeovers and name changes off the field in the nineties and early noughties, F.C. Ibiza – a club with a fresh name and rebrand in 2019, is a club many in the media consider “going places” provided they can sustain some form of on-field consistency. With change and uncertainty seemingly ingrained in their DNA for the last three decades it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for this exciting and persistent club.

Summary:

Can you take F.C. Ibiza and turn them into a footballing powerhouse to rival the Barcelonas and Real Madrids? A club with reasonable funds and players many consider too good for the division give you a great platform to work with from the off. With a vision of gaining a place in the Promotion Playoffs you are afforded some leeway in your debut season and with a stark divide in quality within the league you should be afforded some time to get your plans in place. It is not going to be a party the whole way however and the chairman will grow to be expectant, demanding promotion to La Liga2 by your second season in charge. Go get to work!
